# Chelsea to assess Morata’s hamstring injury

Alvaro Morata’s blistering start to life at Chelsea has been derailed by a hamstring injury with various reports stating the striker could miss anywhere between two to eight weeks as a result.

The striker was forced off after 35 minutes in the home defeat to Manchester City last time out after complaining of a hamstring issue which has forced him to pull out of the Spain national squad.

Initial diagnosis suggested that he would return for Chelsea’s next Premier League game against Crystal Palace, but reports have since surfaced that Morata has sustained a grade two hamstring strain which could rule him out for as much as six to eight weeks.

Morata has found the net six times in seven Premier League appearances for Chelsea and the Blues [will be performing their own medical checks](https://talksport.com/football/alvaro-morata-injury-update-chelsea-conduct-their-own-tests-strikers-hamstring-problem) on the striker before releasing an official timetable for recovery.

In his absence, Chelsea could turn to Michy Batshuayi to lead the line.
