# Chelsea set to return for Barkley

Chelsea are set to return with a move for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley in January.

[According to The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/10/04/tottenham-plan-january-move-ross-barkley-transfer-could-do/), Chelsea will reignite their interest in the England international, with Tottenham also ready to go back in.

Neither side were able to secure a move for Barkley in the summer, despite [Chelsea](https://readchelsea.com/) coming very close.

[Chelsea](https://readchelsea.com/) had a £35m bid accepted by Everton on deadline day but Barkley rejected the move at the last-minute, potentially hoping for a move to [Tottenham](https://readtottenham.com/).

The report now claims that [Tottenham](https://readtottenham.com/) are the frontrunners and that Barkley will only cost £20m in January.

This is due to him being in the last year of his contract at Everton. If he fails to get a move in January he could move on a free next summer.

Barkley is currently nursing an injury but the report claims that he should return to fitness during the January window.
