# Conte: Premier League is the toughest in the world

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte believes the Premier League is the toughest division in the world.

In an interview with [GQ Magazine](https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/antonio-conte-interview), the Italian spoke of why he feels as though the English top flight is the toughest of them all, with Chelsea aiming to retain the title.

> This is the toughest, the most intense, the most difficult, no doubt. In Spain, you have two teams who might win, Real Madrid and Barcelona, every now and then Atletico Madrid. In Italy, there is only Juventus.

Conte explained that he felt as though as a result of the number of teams vying for the league title, the competition is more fierce, therefore making the Premier League the most intense in the world.

> In Germany, there is Bayern Munich. OK, Borussia Dortmund won it with Klopp, but it is \[mostly\] Bayern. In France, there is Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco for a season.

> But here, there are at least six clubs who think they can win the title. Manchester City and United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham. And Chelsea, for sure.

Chelsea have shown flashes of excellence this season but have been hindered by their inconsistency. Off the back of their shock 2-1 defeat to rock-bottom Crystal Palace on Saturday, they are currently nine points adrift on Manchester City at the top of the table.

Conte will hope that he can defeat Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday night to make it three wins out of three in the competition.
