# Tammy Abraham to choose England over Nigeria

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham looks set to reject the chance to play for Nigeria in favour of England, as the forward looks to force his way into Gareth Southgate’s plans for the World Cup in Russia next summer, [the Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/tammy-abraham-to-reject-nigeria-for-england-lzwk7h5xc) report.

The Chelsea striker, who is currently enjoying a productive loan spell at fellow Premier League club Swansea, is eligible to represent Nigeria through his father, however, the player looks set to remain committed to the Three Lions, who he has represented all the way up to Under 21 level.

England boss Southgate was at the Emirates on Saturday as Abraham’s Swansea lost 2-1 to Arsenal, with the striker producing a fine assist for Sam Clucas to give Swansea the lead.

The 20-year-old has already found the back of the net in the Premier League four times in ten appearances, making him Swansea’s top scorer. With Abraham committing his international future to England, a strong season for Paul Clement’s side may earn him a place in Southgate’s World Cup squad next year.
