# Richmond Boakye keen to join Chelsea in January

Premier League side Chelsea will send scouts to monitor Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye against Arsenal on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League group stage clash as the Blues look to strengthen their attacking options in January, according to a report from the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-scouts-to-watch-richmond-boakye-at-arsenal-as-striker-eyes-january-move-a3674726.html).

Antonio Conte is desperate to add more firepower and depth to his squad and after missing out on Fernando Llorente in the summer to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, the Italian is keen to add Boakye to his squad.

It is understood that the club kept an eye on the 24-year-old in their last meeting with Arsenal in Belgrade and will now watch him again in London as Conte looks to see if the player can handle the physical nature of the Premier League.

Boakye has been in stunning form in front of goal, netting 18 times so far this season.

Conte already knows plenty about Boakye already, as it was the Italian who signed the striker during his time at Juventus. Boakye was then sent out on loan and eventually found himself as the main striker for Red Star Belgrade.

The forward said:

> I am playing well, so we’ll see who will contact me. If I’m going to play for Chelsea, then I’ll go. I’m having fun and I’m playing at my best.

Chelsea’s new signing Alvaro Morata is suffering a dry spell and has gone six games without finding the net which is a cause for concern for Conte.
