# Lampard tight-lipped over becoming technical director

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has refused to rule out becoming the club’s new technical director, [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/chelsea/story/3264219/frank-lampard-coy-over-succeeding-michael-emenalo-at-chelsea) reports.

The Blues were dealt a blow earlier this week, with long-serving director Michael Emenalo confirming his departure from the club with immediate effect.

Emenalo has been a key part of Chelsea’s success over the last decade, and his ten years of service at Stamford Bridge were treasured by owner Roman Abramovich.

Since then, club director Marina Granovskaia has admitted that a review in the structure at Chelsea is being reviewed, with a new technical director potentially on her agenda.![](https://cdn.readeverything.co/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/666160962.jpg)

Lampard was quizzed over the possibility of replacing Emenalo at the helm, and while paying tribute to his services at Chelsea, refused to rule out becoming the new technical director.

> I worked with Michael for seven or eight years and his role at the club coincided with the most successful period in Chelsea’s history so I think he deserves a lot of credit from that.

> Everyone at Chelsea wishes him well as he moves on. In terms of myself, I don’t know. I’m a Chelsea person, I’d love to be involved with the club long-term in some way. We’ll see.

The former England international, who retired from playing football in February, has previously reiterated his intention to become a coach. However, the role of technical director is sure to be a lucrative prospect.
