# Real Madrid ‘abandon’ their pursuit of Eden Hazard

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to give up the ghost in their hunt to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

The La Liga giants have held a long-standing interest in the Belgian international, who has been in superb form once again for the Blues so far this season. However, according to Spanish news outlet [Marca](https://www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2017/12/31/5a48e098268e3e963d8b45e4.html), Real Madrid are set to ‘abandon’ their pursuit of Hazard.

This comes after Real chiefs established their unwavering belief in Marco Asensio to provide the flair necessary for the club.

The young Spaniard has been excellent since bursting onto the scene at the Bernabeu but has found game time to be limited this season, much to the surprise of the footballing world.

However, there is a clear faith in Asensio to succeed at Real Madrid and it is strong enough to convince those at Real that they do not actually need to recruit Hazard.

This is sure to be music to Chelsea fans’ ears, with Hazard still one of the best players in the Premier League.
