# Batshuayi still has a future at Chelsea

Michy Batshuayi secured a move to Borussia Dortmund in January in what was one of the most dramatic transfer circles in recent years.

The Chelsea forward joined the Bundesliga giants on loan until the end of the season as they sought a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined Arsenal. This saw Olivier Giroud leave the Gunners to sign permanently for Chelsea.

It’s thought that Dortmund were keen to include an option to sign Batshuayi after his loan spell expires, however, according to a report from the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-insist-michy-batshuayi-future-12048886), Chelsea rejected this proposal as they feel he still has a future at Stamford Bridge.

Batshuayi was often maligned during the first half of the season for a lack of movement and natural instinct as a striker but he has been in lethal form since leaving for Germany.

It’s stated by the Mirror that Antonio Conte was initially prepared to sanction Batshuayi’s sale to Dortmund, but the club would like to keep hold of him as they see a long-term benefit from keeping the player.
