# Tuchel set to join PSG as Chelsea back Conte

Former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has reportedly agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain prior to the beginning of next season.

Reported by Bild, the German had been a name linked with the Chelsea job should Antonio Conte leave at the end of a disappointing season, likely to leave the Blues without Champions League football.

Tuchel has been out of football this year, following his sacking from Dortmund at the conclusion of the 2016-17, where he endured a tricky relationship with influential figures within the club.

With time previously spent at Augsburg II and Mainz, the 44-year-old claimed his first major honour with a Deutsche Pokal win just prior to his sacking as Dortmund coach.

PSG are set to win Ligue 1 by an almost embarrassing margin, as they sit 14 points ahead of second-placed Monaco with six matches left to play.

However, a repeated failure to do the necessary business in the Champions League has meant an end to the managerial reign of Unai Emery at the Parc des Princes.

Should Chelsea choose to move on from Conte – [something they today denied](https://readchelsea.com/2018/04/09/chelsea-deny-rumours-that-antonio-conte-has-been-sacked/) – in what is only his second season at Stamford Bridge, it seems they’ll have to look elsewhere.
