Italian Football Federation unwilling to meet Conte’s demands

Antonio Conte looks unlikely to become the new Italy manager with the country’s Football Federation unwilling to meet his contract demands.

The Times reports that the current Chelsea head coach would like a five-year contract in order to return to the Italian national team following his stint in London.

Conte is set to leave Stamford Bridge after a season of struggles in the Premier League, even with the former Juventus boss having another year remaining on his contract.

Despite winning the Premier League title with Chelsea just months ago, the Italian has never hidden his frustrations at Stamford Bridge.

He has often been linked with a return to the Italian national team following their own struggles since his departure.

Their failure to qualify for the World Cup means there is another re-building job required in Italy.

Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has also been linked with the Blues job, is being tipped as the front-runner for the Italy job.
