# Chelsea eye Laurent Blanc as alternative to Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea have reportedly held talks with former PSG manager Laurent Blanc as they consider their options to replace Antonio Conte this summer.

The Blues have not officially dismissed Conte yet but it appears almost certain that the Italian will be relieved of his duties as the club’s first-team manager in the near future.

Chelsea are understood to have identified Maurizio Sarri as their first-choice to replace Conte but a deal is proving to be difficult, with the Italian still bound to a release clause within his contract at Napoli despite his recent sacking.

It’s claimed by France Football (via [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2018/05/29/chelsea-hold-meeting-laurent-blanc-managerial-post-7588987/)) though that the Blues recently staged a meeting with Blanc to gauge his compatibility with the role at Stamford Bridge, with the club making contingency plans in case their move for Sarri collapses.

According to the French claims, Chelsea’s director Marina Granovskaia spoke to the ex-PSG man, who has been out of work for two years now following his exit from the Parc des Princes.
