Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has offered an update on Chelsea’s supposed pursuit of Maurizio Sarri, claiming that the Blues haven’t yet made contact.
For months now, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has appeared to be on borrowed time, with Italian coach Sarri frequently linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge.
Despite Napoli having replaced Sarri as manager with Carlo Ancelotti, the 59-year is still technically employed by the Partenopei.
Chelsea have so far refused to pay Sarri’s £7million release clause, which has proved to be the sticking point, despite the club having apparently discussed targets with Sarri already.
Talking to Sky Sport24, as cited by Metro Sport, De Laurentiis claimed that Chelsea have not yet made contact. He said:
The call from London has not arrived.
When asked about whether he though Sarri would eventually move to the Blues, De Laurentiis said:
I do not know. Time will tell.
