# Giroud looking forward to working with Sarri

Olivier Giroud says he is looking forward to working with Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea next season.

Speaking to the [London Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-transfer-news-eden-hazard-and-thibaut-courtois-granted-three-weeks-off-as-they-consider-a3888041.html) following France’s World Cup victory, the striker backed Sarri to succeed at Stamford Bridge.

> Conte was a great coach but I’m sure Sarri will do a wonderful job. We can challenge for trophies. I don’t forget what Conte brought to Chelsea. I have a lot of respect for him.
>
> It’s a new page of the story of the club and we want to be competitive. I’m looking forward to coming back and working well with the new coach.

The Italian was confirmed as the new Chelsea boss on Saturday after months of speculation surrounding both him and Antonio Conte.

Despite only joining the club in January, there have already been some suggestions that Giroud could be moved on this summer.

The Blues are being heavily linked with a move for Gonzalo Higuain and may need to sell both Giroud and Alvaro Morata to help fund the deal.

However, the Frenchman’s latest comments suggest that he sees his immediate future at Stamford Bridge after impressing during his first few months at the club.
