# Chelsea to miss out on Milinkovic-Savic deal with Serbian staying put

Chelsea will miss out on the chance to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, with the player set to stay at the club.

[The Daily Star reports](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/720575/Man-Utd-Chelsea-Sergej-Milinkovic-Savic-transfer-news-gossip-Mourinho-Sarri-Lazio-rumours) that the Serbian midfielder has confirmed his intention to remain with the Serie A outfit beyond the current transfer window.

When quizzed about his future at the club, the midfielder reiterated he will not be leaving this summer.

> Of course I’m staying, do you not see that I’m here?

Reports had linked Chelsea with a big-money move for the player, with some [suggestions of a bid](https://readchelsea.com/2018/07/31/chelsea-propose-e115m-offer-for-sergej-milinkovic-savic/) in the region of £100 million with Charly Musonda heading in the opposite direction.

Chelsea were also [named as favourites to land the player](https://readchelsea.com/2018/07/25/chelsea-favourites-to-sign-milinkovic-savic-as-he-favours-blues-move/), but a summer move is now increasingly unlikely.

Both Manchester United and Real Madrid have been heavily linked with moves for the player this summer.

Milinkovic-Savic was one of the standout performers in Serie A last season, helping Lazio with their push for Champions League football.
