# Sarri insists Luiz has a future at Chelsea

David Luiz still has a big part to play at Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri has insisted.

The Brazilian defender’s future at Stamford Bridge had recently come under scrutiny, with a move away heavily touted by various reports.

However, it seems Sarri feels as though Luiz can still be a key player in his Chelsea squad, as he continues to construct what he perceives to be his strongest starting line-up.

Luiz’s relationship with former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was believed to be frosty to say the least, resulting in the defender seeing his first-team chances limited throughout last season.

However, the former PSG star has been given a clean slate by Sarri, who is clearly keen for Luiz to succeed at Chelsea.

As quoted by [the Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/david-luiz-assured-big-role-13073426), the former Napoli boss discussed Luiz’s current situation at Chelsea and insisted that the experienced defender has “a big future” with the Blues.

> I don’t know about what happened in the past but now he has a good chance. We only have to carry on like we are doing now with him. David has a big future here. He will be useful for us but not just on the pitch. He is also very important in the dressing room. I very much enjoy his attitude when I am working with him.
