# Sarri bemoans missing out on Gonzalo Higuian

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has spoken of his regret after missing out on a deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain this summer.

[Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, as cited on the Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/722852/Chelsea-news-Gonzalo-Higuain-Maurizio-Sarri-Juventus-Napoli-AC-Milan-Alvaro-Morata), Sarri addressed the rumours linking the former Juventus striker with a move to Stamford Bridge.

> Higuain? It’s a little regret but in the end everyone after the market has a few little regrets.

Both AC Milan and Chelsea were heavily linked with a move to sign the striker, but it was the former that sealed a deal.

Higuain joined the San Siro outfit when Leonardo Bonucci pushed for a return to Juventus just a year after joining the club.

The Argentinian international joins the Serie A side on loan with an option to buy next summer.

Higuain himself has already[confirmed that Chelsea](https://readchelsea.com/2018/08/03/only-sarri-wanted-me-at-chelsea-higuain-explains-chelsea-snub/)were interested in the player, but said interest only came from Sarri himself, not those behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.
