# Rugani’s Juventus contract talks stall

Chelsea target Daniele Rugani has seen contract talks with Juventus stall after their latest round of talks.

[Reports in Italy claim](https://www.calciomercato.it/news/318346/calciomercato_juventus_rinnovo_rugani_le_ultime_di_cm_it) that the defender has been in discussions with the Old Lady over a new deal after missing out on a move to Chelsea in the summer.

However, talks are believed to have stalled, offering Chelsea another glimmer of hope in their chances of securing a deal.

Rugani was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer, with Maurizio Sarri keen to strengthen defensively.

However, following a late double swoop from Milan for both Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara Juventus put the brakes on a deal for Rugani.

Both Caldara and Rugani were targets for the Blues but Juventus refused to lose two young defenders in the same transfer window.

Sarri remains keen to sign a young defender with Gary Cahill facing an uncertain future in London.
