# Chelsea target Chiesa continues to ponder new Fiorentina deal

Chelsea target Federico Chiesa is still weighing up whether to sign a new contract at Fiorentina or not, according to claims from [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/fiorentina-contromossa-per-chiesa-15359).

The Italy international is a pivotal player for Stefano Pioli’s side and Fiorentina have been actively attempting to tie him down to a new, long-term contract at the club.

However, no resolution has yet been reached with regards to a contract extension for the winger, as speculation surrounding his future continues to prevail.

Chelsea have been perennially [linked](https://readchelsea.com/2018/09/17/chelsea-in-pole-position-to-land-chiesa-in-january-window/) with a move for Chiesa, who has been courted by a number of prestigious clubs in European football in recent transfer windows.

It’s reported by Calciomercato that if the winger is to put pen to paper on a new contract with Fiorentina, he is keen to see his wage demands agreed to, with the player apparently seeking a pay-rise.

Chelsea, if reports are to be believed, will be watching Chiesa’s ongoing contractual situation at Fiorentina with close interest, as he continues to ponder his future.
