Maurizio Sarri and Jose Mourinho are eager to strengthen defensively and Skriniar is widely regarded as one of the most promising defenders in Europe following his rise at the San Siro.

With Gary Cahill set to leave the club in the new year, as well as Andreas Christensen attracting interest from elsewhere, Sarri is likely to be in the market for a defender in January.
