# Morata misses Spurs clash with hamstring problem

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata was left out of the squad to face Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night as a consequence of a minor hamstring issue.

As reported by the [club’s official website](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/1/8/the-teams--tottenham-v-chelsea), the Spaniard has not been risked by Blues boss Maurizio Sarri as the team bid to win the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Morata was expected to have played a part in the clash against Spurs, with Chelsea fielding a rotated team.

However, the striker has been forced to sit on the sidelines as he nurses what is described as a “minor” knock to his hamstring, which was sustained in a recent training session.

The former Real Madrid man will be keen to return to the first-team fold in the near future as he looks to find form once again.

Morata has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this month, with the likes of Sevilla understood to have identified him as a potential transfer target.
