# Atletico Madrid eye Emerson Palmieri

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri has reportedly emerged as a target for Atletico Madrid.

According to claims from Tuttosport, as cited in a report from [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/juve-concorrenza-spagnola-per-emerson-66286), Diego Simeone’s side have joined Juventus in the race to recruit the Italian international.

Emerson has seen his future at Stamford Bridge come under scrutiny in recent weeks and was [linked with a move to Inter Milan](https://readchelsea.com/2019/01/08/inter-milan-eye-emerson-palmieri/) earlier on in the January transfer window.

However, it seems a move to Spain could be a possibility for the left-back, with Atletico reported to be keen on landing him if Lucas Hernandez completes a summer move to Bayern Munich.

Juventus appeared to be leading the race to sign the former Roma man, as reports indicated that the Turin club [could demand the player](https://readchelsea.com/2019/01/15/juventus-could-ask-for-emerson-to-be-included-in-higuain-deal/) as a part of Chelsea’s proposed deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain.

Nevertheless, it appears that if Massimiliano Allegri’s side are to tie up a transfer for Emerson, they will be faced with stiff competition from elsewhere.
