# Drinkwater linked with Fenerbahce switch

Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has reportedly emerged as a target for Fenerbahce.

According to claims from Italian news outlet [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/chelsea-spunta-una-nuova-squadra-per-drinkwater-72326), the England international has been lined up for a January switch to Turkey as first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge continue to elude him.

The central midfield player joined Chelsea in a deal worth £35 million from Leicester City in 2017 but has failed to establish himself at the club, operating as a rotational option under both Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri.

With competition for places in the Blues’ midfield fierce, Drinkwater has not had a look-in this season, prompting speculation surrounding his future at the club.

[Fulham had been linked with a move](https://readchelsea.com/2019/01/16/fulham-keen-on-loan-move-for-drinkwater/) to rescue the 28-year-old from his struggles, but according to recent reports, Chelsea have [not yet received offers](https://readchelsea.com/2019/01/23/chelsea-yet-to-receive-any-offers-for-danny-drinkwater/) for the player this month.

Should Drinkwater complete a move to Fenerbahce, he will be the second Blues player to join them in January following Victor Moses short-term loan move.
