# Watford not interested in Doucoure sale

Chelsea look unlikely to complete a deadline day deal to sign Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.

[Simon Johnson of the London Evening Standard reports](https://twitter.com/sjstandardsport/status/1090901327805321216?s=21) that the Hornets are not interested in selling the player to Chelsea before Thursday’s deadline.

Earlier in the day, Maurizio Sarri’s side were [linked](https://readchelsea.com/2019/01/31/chelsea-set-for-shock-move-deadline-day-move-for-doucoure/) with a dramatic swoop for the Frenchman in the wake of their heavy defeat to Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Doucoure has been heavily linked with a move away from Watford, with the player boasting ambitions to play European football and break into the French national team.

Paris Saint-Germain have been [long-term admirers](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1071660/Abdoulaye-Doucoure-Watford-transfer-PSG-Champions-League-dream) of the player and were credited with an interest earlier in the January transfer window.

Doucoure has been ever-present for Watford this season, impressing in the middle of the park. He has played a key role in the Hornet’s push to break into the top six this season, but he looks set to see out the season with his current club.
