# Monchi wants Chelsea target Rugani as one of his first Arsenal deals

Monchi has shortlisted long-term Chelsea target Daniele Rugani as one of the first five signings he would like to make at Arsenal.

According to [Sport Mediaset](https://www.sportmediaset.mediaset.it/mercato/arsenal/monchi-va-all-arsenal-e-fa-la-spesa-in-italia-primi-obiettivi-zaniolo-e-rugani_1264980-201902a.shtml), the Juventus defender is wanted at the Emirates, with Monchi failing in a bid to sign the player for Roma.

The transfer guru is expected to be [confirmed](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6790993/Monchi-expected-announced-Arsenals-new-technical-director-month.html) at Arsenal before the end of the season of the season after leaving the Italian side.

Known for his ability to spot talent as well as negotiate a deal, Monchi has already got his eyes on five different players, according to the report.

Rugani was heavily [linked](https://readchelsea.com/2019/01/24/daniele-rugani-discusses-chelsea-links/) with a move to Chelsea over the summer, having fallen out of favour at Juventus.

After Chelsea and the Old Lady failed to agree a deal, the Italian defender remained in Turin in a bid to fight for his place, but he is once again unable to break into the team on a regular basis.
