# Danny Drinkwater arrested on suspicion of drink driving

Danny Drinkwater is in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of drink driving, report the [https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/danny-drinkwater-arrested-suspicion-drink-14267092](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/danny-drinkwater-arrested-suspicion-drink-14267092)*[Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/danny-drinkwater-arrested-suspicion-drink-14267092)*.

The Chelsea midfielder crashed his car late on Monday night, following the Blues’ 2-0 win over West Ham, in which he played no part.

It is believed that Drinkwater left a party in Greater Manchester before his Range Rover hit a Skoda shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning.

The 29-year-old was treated for injuries, along with a female passenger and the driver of the Skoda.

It is the latest setback in Drinkwater’s increasingly stuttering career, having thrived at Leicester City during their 2015/16 Premier League title triumph.

His form with the Foxes earned him a move to Chelsea, but things have not gone to plan at all.

Drinkwater has managed just 23 appearances for the Blues since moving in the summer of 2017.

A summer exit looks inevitable, especially if he is found guilty of drink driving.
