# Chelsea fans unimpressed at Thomas Lemar links

Chelsea are [reportedly ahead](https://readchelsea.com/?p=68766) of London rivals Tottenham in the race to sign Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Lemar this month.

Recent [reports](https://readchelsea.com/2020/01/09/chelsea-offered-the-chance-to-sign-tottenham-target-lemar/) have suggested that both London clubs have been handed the opportunity to sign him on loan this month for just £5m, with the player reportedly [keen](https://readchelsea.com/2020/01/09/chelsea-offered-the-chance-to-sign-tottenham-target-lemar/) on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard is looking [to add to his attacking ranks](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/12/16/chelsea-look-attacking-options-frank-lampard-prepares-start/), with the Blues also linked with moves for fellow wide men [Wilfried Zaha](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jan/08/football-transfers-rumours-wilfred-zaha-to-leave-crystal-palace-for-chelsea) and [Jadon Sancho](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12691/11903640/jadon-sancho-borussia-dortmund-adamant-england-international-stays-in-january).

However, when [@TheBlues\_](https://twitter.com/TheBlues___/status/1215223982091313153) shared the news regarding Chelsea’s Lemar interest on social media, these fans were quick to share their concern.

### Read Chelsea verdict

We, like these Blues supporters, also have our worries over a possible deal for the Frenchman.

Lemar has struggled in Spain since making the move to Atletico from Monaco and has failed to score or provide an assist in 768 minutes of La Liga action this season, via [Whoscored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/132962/Show/Thomas-Lemar).

[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas-lemar/profil/spieler/205562) show that the 24-year-old can occupy any position behind the striker in an attacking midfield role, so his versatility can be seen as one positive over a potential deal.

Another would be that Lampard would have the option to send the player back should he not like what he sees, but personally, we, like a section of Chelsea supporters, feel as though the Blues would be better off targeting another wide man, even if it means spending big.
