# “Waste of money” – Chelsea fans unimpressed at recent Isco links

Chelsea have recently been [linked](https://readchelsea.com/?p=68872) with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco.

However, the rumours haven’t sat well with plenty of Blues fans.

According to [Spanish outlet El Desmarque](https://eldesmarque.com/madrid/real-madrid/noticias/181989-isco-y-el-juntos-negociacion-en-la-sombra-viene-para-llevarselo-del-real-madrid-ed), relayed in an article by [Sports Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/chelsea-willing-pay-e55m-midfielder-recent-form-already-contact-agents/), Chelsea have held discussions with the player’s agent over a possible Stamford Bridge move.

The same report claims that the Blues are willing to pay up to €55 million (£47m) for the 27-year-old.

Chelsea fan page [@TheBlues\_](https://twitter.com/TheBlues___/status/1217129235145527296) took to Twitter to share the update on Tuesday afternoon, which led to these supporters sharing their frustration at the links.

### Read Chelsea verdict

We’re leaning towards agreeing with these Blues fans in believing a move for Isco would be a bad move.

The latest [report](https://sportwitness.co.uk/chelsea-willing-pay-e55m-midfielder-recent-form-already-contact-agents/) claims that the midfielder is ‘expected’ to receive more game time between now and the end of the season, so we feel like Chelsea could be chasing a lost cause if the latest rumours are true.

Frank Lampard has openly [admitted that he is keen to bolster his attacking options this month](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/dec/11/chelsea-frank-lampard-targets-strikers-january-transfer-window), and we feel as if a move for a striker would be more beneficial to the Blues.

Reports from [Sky Sport Italia](https://sport.sky.it/calciomercato/2020/01/14/giroud-inter-calciomercato-news), cited by the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7887981/Olivier-Giroud-set-Inter-Milan-medical-weekend-Chelsea-agree-5m-deal.html), have claimed that Olivier Giroud will undergo a medical with Inter Milan this weekend, which would leave Lampard with just Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi as the senior striker options.

In our opinion, Chelsea are well-stocked in midfield, so a striker, in our eyes, should be the priority over a move for Isco.
