# Spurs fans desperate for Lamela to start against Chelsea

Many Tottenham Hotspur fans want to see Erik Lamela in the starting XI for this weekend’s clash with Chelsea.

The Argentine[came on from the bench](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51567910) in midweek during the UEFA Champions League last 16 first-leg defeat to German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Lamela has had his[fair share of injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erik-lamela/verletzungen/spieler/111630) during his Tottenham career and was recently struggling with a muscular problem.

However, fans of the north London club want him to be playing from the start for the crucial clash at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea [emerged victorious](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/dec/22/tottenham-hotspur-chelsea-premier-league-match-report) in the first league encounter between the two teams earlier this season, with Willian netting two fine goals to secure the away win.

Lamela has [33 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erik-lamela/leistungsdaten/spieler/111630) in his Tottenham career, but only four of them have come this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erik-lamela/leistungsdaten/spieler/111630)).

However, the fans appreciate that he brings energy and passion to the team which they love to see.

Many of them took [to Twitter](https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1230480451267112965) to show that they want the 27-year-old to start on Saturday, with some criticising Lucas Moura.
