# ‘Get Well Soon’: Chelsea Fans React To Kai Havertz Positive Test

Prior to last night’s victory against Rennes in the Champions League, Chelsea midfielder [Kai Havertz](https://readchelsea.com/2020/11/03/kai-havertz-chelsea/) was [confirmed to have tested positive](https://twitter.com/ChelseaFC/status/1324064235987587072) for COVID-19 by Head Coach Frank Lampard.

Some eyebrows may have been raised upon discovering his [omission from the starting lineup](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-fc-xi-vs-rennes-confirmed-team-news-starting-lineup-havertz-coronavirus-b45954.html) but Lampard quickly confirmed the news and said the player is undergoing a period of self-isolation.

The 21-year-old’s [absence wasn’t felt on the night](https://readchelsea.com/2020/11/05/chelsea-rennes-player-ratings/) as the Blues cruised to a 3-0 win over the Ligue 1 side thanks to a Timo Werner brace and a Tammy Abraham strike.

Should he recover well, Havertz will be in self-isolation for 14 days from the date of the positive test, meaning the [former Bayer Leverkusen man](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2020/09/04/chelsea-have-havertz-) will miss [Saturday’s clash with Sheffield United](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/matches/fixtures)and is likely not to go away on international duty with Germany – somethin which one supporter described as a “bright side” to the player’s diagnosis.

The Blues travel to Newcastle United after the international break, at which point Havertz should have returned to training.
