# Inter Milan In ‘Deep Talks’ Over N’Golo Kante Transfer

Inter Milan are reportedly in the market for a midfielder and have been credited with an interest in Chelsea lynchpin [N’Golo Kante](https://readchelsea.com/2019/07/25/chelsea-morning-news-round-up-25th-july-2019/) according to a report from Italian publication [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.it/2020/11/18/calciomercato-inter-kante-xhaka-eriksen-psg/).

Former [Blues manager Antonio Conte](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/11/17/antonio-conte-exclusive-interview-wanted-sign-lukaku-van-dijk/) is thought to have singled out Kante for a reunion in Italy at the San Siro, having [failed in an attempt](https://www.calciomercato.it/2020/11/18/calciomercato-inter-kante-xhaka-eriksen-psg/) to sign Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.

Conte was at the helm at Stamford Bridge [when Kante arrived from Leicester City](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36806454) in 2016 and the Frenchman has since become an integral part of the first team, appearing in [every Premier League game](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ngolo-kante/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225083/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/631) this season.

The report now believes Conte is desperate to sign the [tireless midfielder](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/114075/Show/N-Golo-Kant%C3%A9) once again and his current employers are in ‘deep talks’ with the player’s representatives in order to see whether a deal can be done.

Kante, a [World Cup winner with France](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ngolo-kante/erfolge/spieler/225083), has a hefty market value of £63m according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ngolo-kante/leistungsdaten/spieler/225083), and it is likely the Blues would demand at least that amount for the 29-year-old who is a pivotal part of Frank Lampard’s side, judging by his continued selection by the manager.

Conte has his eye on a mass reunion in Italy as he [reportedly will also make an attempt to sign](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8920939/Inter-Milan-want-THREE-Chelsea-fringe-players-January.html) Chelsea trio Olivier Giroud, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri in January.

### READ CHELSEA VERDICT

It seems highly unlikely that Chelsea would allow a player as important as Kante to leave the club, especially to join another of Europe’s elite who are [competing in this season’s Champions League](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/clubs/50138--internazionale/matches/).

Although [widely linked](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1343993/Declan-Rice-Chelsea-transfer-news-West-Ham-Peter-Crouch-deadline-day-latest) with a similar player in Declan Rice, any such deal is far from over the line; and even should it happen, allowing the two-time Premier League title winner to leave mid-season would be almost impossible to comprehend.

Despite approaching 30, Kante has shown no signs of waning in terms of his [performance levels](https://one-versus-one.com/en/players/N'Golo-Kante); and despite [much conjecture over his position](https://metro.co.uk/2019/08/16/frank-lampard-ngolo-kante-chelsea-best-role-10583968/) in recent managerial stints, Lampard seems to be [getting the best](https://metro.co.uk/2019/08/16/frank-lampard-ngolo-kante-chelsea-best-role-10583968/) out of the French midfielder once again.
