[Chelsea](https://readchelsea.com/2020/11/25/rennes-chelsea-player-ratings-champions-league/) qualified for the [knockout stages](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/rennes-vs-chelsea-fc-result-champions-league-2020-b78977.html) of this season’s Champions League on Tuesday night with victory away to Rennes and one man in particular stood out.

The club’s official [Twitter channel](https://twitter.com/its_ChelseaTing/status/1331336191535362054) held a poll to allow Blues fans to vote for their Man of the Match from the win in Brittany and there was one clear winner.

England midfielder [Mason Mount](https://readchelsea.com/2020/11/24/mason-mount-chelsea-mentality-shift-title-challenge/) came out on top ahead of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, with the youngster was in dazzling form as he [set up the opening goal on the night](https://www.skysports.com/football/rennes-vs-chelsea/439005) for Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Mount has been [performing above many people’s expectations](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/343346/Show/Mason-Mount) this season for both club and country.

The talented midfielder may have feared for his place after Frank Lampard bolstered his squad with a [host of new signings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-chelsea/transfers/verein/631) during the summer. However, he has [more than held his own](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mason-mount/leistungsdaten/spieler/346483) and many Chelsea fans lavished praise on the 21-year-old “baller” after his performance in France:
