# Cesc Fabregas Singles Out ‘Fantastic’ Mason Mount for Praise

Former Chelsea midfielder [Cesc Fabregas](https://readchelsea.com/2020/01/07/chelsea-and-arsenal-fans-loving-fabregas-latest-dig-at-spurs/) has joined [Frank Lampard](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8983609/Frank-Lampard-praises-Mason-Mount-Chelsea-beat-Rennes-asks-fans-stop-criticising-him.html)in praising [Mason Mount](https://readchelsea.com/2020/11/25/chelsea-fans-praise-mason-mount-performance-rennes/) after his impressive performance against Rennes on Tuesday night.

Fabregas, who currently plies his trade in France for Ligue 1 side Monaco, took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/cesc4official/status/1331301161132027905?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) to describe the 21-year-old’s performance as ‘fantastic’, and it’s hard to disagree.

Mount was outstanding on the night and was [voted Man of the Match](https://twitter.com/ChelseaFC/status/1331560945508872193) by the Chelsea fans after providing a [mouth-watering assist](https://www.skysports.com/football/rennes-vs-chelsea/439005) for Callum Hudson-Odoi’s opening goal.

The England man [responded in kind](https://twitter.com/masonmount_10/status/1331342461659205633)to the Stamford Bridge legend, who has a remarkable [110 Spain caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cesc-fabregas/nationalmannschaft/spieler/8806/verein_id/3375): ‘Thanks magician, been watching your assists’.

Given the new arrivals at Stamford Bridge over the summer, some may have feared [Mount might struggle to make the same impact](https://metro.co.uk/2020/09/12/chelsea-news-mason-mount-reveals-reaction-kai-havertz-transfer-frank-lampard-13261805/) on Lampard’s side. However, in the early weeks of the season, the youngster has more than held his own and is [among the squad’s top performers](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/mins_played).

### READ CHELSEA VERDICT

Any praise is gratefully received but, when it’s from a fellow professional of the [level of Fabregas](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/626036-the-fabregas-factor-why-arsenal-captain-cesc-fabregas-is-the-class-of-the-epl), it must be held in particularly high regard, especially when the player in question features in the same position.

Fabregas has [won a multitude of major trophies at club and international level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cesc-fabregas/erfolge/spieler/8806), including [two Premier League titles](https://www.premierleague.com/players/2417/Cesc-F%C3%A0bregas/overview) with Chelsea, something Mount may be [keen to emulate](https://metro.co.uk/2020/11/23/mason-mount-rates-chelseas-title-chances-and-reveals-advice-from-thiago-silva-13641574/) – as well as his assists.

Despite spending [much of his career at the Blues’ London rivals Arsenal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cesc-fabregas/profil/spieler/8806)before moving to Barcelona prior to Stamford Bridge, Fabregas [quickly became a fan favourite](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/international/india/india-news/2020/06/chelsea-fc-hero-cesc-fabregas), something Mount is seemingly well on his way to doing.
