# Chelsea: Fabrizio Romano relays Denis Zakaria update

Chelsea loanee Denis Zakaria has endured a tough time at the club so far, but that could soon change if[Fabrizio Romano’s](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1587473644812439554) latest update is anything to go by.

## **What’s the word?**

The Italian super-journalist relayed an update from Graham Potter in the pre-match press conference vs Dinamo Zagreb.

And it’s one that bodes well for his future in SW6.

Taking to his personal [Twitter](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1587473644812439554) page, Romano [said](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1587473644812439554): *“Graham Potter on Denis Zakaria loan deal: ‘He’s been really good, trained well, supported his teammates’*

*“’He’s disappointed not to play, like everybody is. He’s in the frame, in the squad, available. We will wait and see’.”*

## **About time**

It is rather strange that we have not already seen Zakaria in action for Chelsea, having made his move in the summer alongside a [£30million](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/chelsea-sign-zakaria-on-loan-from-juventus-as-blues-address-struggling-midfield/blt7c578f6a5f20f77e) option-to-buy.

The Switzerland international completely fits the profile that Potter usually looks for in the midfield, with his defensive nous making him an almost perfect fit in a defensive-shielding midfield partnership just ahead of the back three.

Though, his defensive ability would also see him shine as a single pivot in either a three or four-at-the-back system.

The 25-year-old’s average of [21.53 touches](https://fbref.com/en/players/384d58d9/scout/365_m1/Denis-Zakaria-Scouting-Report)in the defensive areas per 90 is astoundingly high and demonstrates where his priority lies.

He deserves a chance at Chelsea, and he may just be in with a shout according to the latest update relayed by Romano.
