Nemanja Matic has revealed why he chose not to celebrate after putting Chelsea ahead against Sunderland on Saturday.
The midfielder, who rarely finds the net could have been excused for over-celebrating, but Matic was calm and appeared distant after scoring, despite celebrations from his team-mates around him.
According to London24, Matic revealed that he has his reasons for not celebrating his goal with rumours linking him with a £20m move to Juventus this summer.
He said:
Yeah, it was a great goal, but I decided not to celebrate, I have my reasons. This is football. Sometimes you win, other times not.
The Serbian’s future has been up in the air after a disastrous season at Stamford Bridge, leaving Chelsea sitting 9th in the Premier League.

He added:
As you know, last season we were champions, and this season we were not even close. But we will see in the future what we can do. This season was not good for us as you know already, but I believe in our quality, I believe in myself, I know what I can do and we showed that we can play very well, we can do something when we want to be champions and we will see next season what we can do – every season is a different story.
Matic has failed to feature regularly under Guus Hiddink, who has preferred either John Obi Mikel or Cesc Fabregas in the deeper midfield role for the Blues since taking over.
Despite the midfielder’s goal at the Stadium of Light, Chelsea lost the game 3-2 after two second-half goals from Sunderland.
