After successfully booking their passage to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday, the Blues can now once again turn their attentions to the Premier League.
A trip to face Bournemouth on the south coast is never an easy assignment, although Maurizio Sarri’s men will be eager to bounce back from the 2-0 defeat they suffered to Arsenal last time out in the top-flight.
Three points clear of Arsenal in the final Champions League spot, the Italian will be hoping to extend the gap at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Here’s how we expect Chelsea to line up:
GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga
The Spaniard has a firm grip on the gloves at Stamford Bridge, and is turning in a very strong first year in between the sticks.
RB: Cesar Azpilicueta
The other Spaniard should hang on to his spot on the perimeter of the defence, as probably the most talented amongst the unit.
CB: David Luiz
David Luiz will likely return to the starting XI after getting the night off against Wednesday.
CB: Antonio Rüdiger
The German has played a lot of football recently, and Sarri will call on him again on the south coast.
Alonso could be rested after the cup, with this kind of encounter being the ideal scenario to roll out depth players such as Emerson.
Jorginho was excused starting the Wednesday encounter, instead being introduced from the subs bench. Expect the midfielder to be full of energy come kick off!
CM: N'Golo Kante
The Frenchman was left out of the match-day squad in the cup, but is likely still going to bed every night seeing visions of his triple nutmeg goal against Spurs.
I would be, anyway.
CM: Mateo Kovacic
The Croat rounds off Chelsea’s first-choice midfield.
A brace was just what the winger needed, and Sarri would be wise to let him try and continue his good form in the league here.
ST: Gonzalo Higuain
Isn’t it nice to have a really good striker?
LW: Eden Hazard
The Belgian can move back out to his preferred position. The Bournemouth defence will be trembling tonight!
