Lille vs Chelsea: Champions League preview

Frank Lampard’s first Champions League outing as Chelsea manager didn’t exactly go to plan against Valencia, but the Blues have the perfect opportunity to get back on track against Ligue 1’s LOSC Lille.

Chelsea come into the game off the back of a much-needed home win in the Premier League against Brighton, a timely boost ahead of their second Champions League group game.

Lampard has been forced to wait for his first home win as the Chelsea manager but a free-scoring performance against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup, followed by the 2-0 victory against Brighton will leave him with a spring in his step ahead of the meeting with Lille.

Despite being away from home, anybody looking for LOSC VS Chelsea champions league betting odds will surely be backing the Blues as favourites for this clash.

If they want to come away with the win, Chelsea will need to learn from their mistakes in the defeat against Valencia, with Lampard’s young guns showing their inexperience on a European stage.

Lille finished second in Ligue 1 last season, largely down to the brilliant induvidual displays of Nicolas Pepe prior to his move to Arsenal. They’ll still have plenty of threat, with Victor Osimhen and Jonathan Bamba impressing so far this season.

The French side themselves will also have something to prove, they were brushed aside with ease by Ajax in the first game, so Chelsea will be hoping to pounce and put themselves right back in contention in Group H.
