Sky Sports have reported that Brazilian midfielder Ramires is close to joining Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning for £25m.

Ramires’ last game he featured in was the 2-0 FA Cup win over Scunthorpe but he has failed to make consistent appearances for Chelsea this season.

The £25m transfer fee being offered by Jiang Suning is very reasonable for a player that you wouldn’t always see in Chelsea’s starting line-up for games.

If the deal were to go through, would the Blues look to replace Ramires by finding a suitable replacement in the market or would they delve into their own resources by giving the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek or Charly Musonda more minutes at Chelsea after both players are well-known youth products? If you ask me, I would choose the latter option and here’s why.

Despite the news, the Blues haven’t identified possible replacements in the market and if they were to do so they would only have six days to do it before this current transfer window ends.

The more wise option could be to wait until the summer, where the current season would have ended and the club would have a better idea as to who they would like to sign.

Whoever Chelsea was to sign now would have to make a big impact to lift the club nearer towards the top of the table. I mean surely Chelsea can’t get relegated?

Players that have been linked with Chelsea such as Paul Pogba isn’t for sale in this transfer window but could well leave Juventus in the summer.

Even though Chelsea has had a topsy-turvy season I don’t think there’s a need for the club to make any desperate actions after selling Ramires. Loftus-Cheek has made several previous appearances for Chelsea but despite his convincing performances he has struggled to get game time, especially in the Premier League.

Musonda is yet to make an appearance for the first team but has been followed closely by the club at youth level and has even had interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United. These two players have won several honours for the club’s academy and could well be the solution to the sale of Ramires.
