Everton warn Chelsea over Lukaku pursuit

With speculation having mounted over recent weeks over a return to Stamford Bridge for Romelu Lukaku, his current side Everton have reportedly told Chelsea that the Belgium striker is strictly not for sale, and that they will not entertain any bids for their prized asset, no matter how large the fee.

Lukaku departed West London for Merseyside on a permanent basis back in 2014, and having scored 25 goals last season, has attracted interest from new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. Despite having already secured the services of Lukaku’s compatriot Michy Batshuayi in a big money move earlier this summer, the Italian seems keen to add to his attacking options yet further. As result of Conte’s arrival, Chelsea are among the favourites for the Premier League title in the football odds for the upcoming season.

However, following last year’s pursuit of John Stones under Jose Mourinho, Everton are set to play hardball with Chelsea for the services of Lukaku. With Everton officials believing that Chelsea are trying to unsettle their star player, Lukaku remains the favourite in the football odds from bookmakers Coral to be Chelsea’s next summer signings. The Belgian scored against Chelsea during last season’s FA Cup, and has made no secret of his desire to once again play for a top European side.

Following Chelsea’s 10th place finish under Mourinho from last year, speculation has been high regarding the team’s potential for the upcoming campaign. At 11/2 in the football odds with Coral to win their fifth Premier League title, it is undoubtedly a big season at Stamford Bridge. The Premier League campaign can be previewed here, with charismatic Conte certain to provide box office moments throughout the season. However, following his successful spell in charge of Italian giants Juventus, trophies will be expected by supporters, as well as Roman Abramovich.

With the arrivals of Batshuayi along with N’Golo Kante from champions Leicester City, Conte now looks set to cut his squad by letting fringe players leave the squad on either permanent or loan basis’. Oscar, Loic Remy, Pedro and Juan Cuadrado have all been linked with moves to clubs around Europe, with such players being deemed surplus to requirements by the Italian. Italian club Inter Milan are the current favourites in the football odds from Coral to sign Brazilain Oscar.
