February 2nd, 2017 will not only go down as a day that Chelsea fans will never forget, but a day that football fans will never forget too.
Frank Lampard announced his retirement earlier today after a historic 21-year career that included 648 appearances as a Blue and 211 goals as a Chelsea player.
With the Blues, he won four FA Cups, three Premier League titles, a pair of League Cups, a Europa League trophy and a Champions League crown.
His 177 Premier League goals put him fourth all-time and he scoresd against 39 different Premier League clubs, which is a record.
As Rory Jennings put it, Lampard scored more than Paul Scholes, assisted more than Steven Gerrard and received the praise of Ronaldinho, as the Footb once said Lampard was his toughest opponent ever.
He was quite frankly, no pun intended, the greatest midfielder to ever grace the Premier League. He scored in games of varying capacities, whether it be a cold, rainy night at Stoke or a cup final.
Super Frank not only made an impact at Chelsea, but also everywhere he stepped on a football pitch. He had countless teammates whom he touched emotionally and made an impact on, and left impressions on plenty of players and managers. Here is a round-up of social media reactions to Lampard’s retirement.
