John Terry will leave Chelsea at the end of the season, the club have revealed.
The Premier League leaders announced on Monday night that the long-standing defender will leave the club after 19 years at Stamford Bridge.
The defender has enjoyed quite the career with the Blues that has been littered with major honours and key moments.
Terry has won four Premier League titles, lifted five FA Cups, won three League Cups and both the Champions League and Europa League during his time at Stamford Bridge.
As a player, he has won everything there is to win. Don’t forget to the two Community Shields!
During his Chelsea career, the defender has worked under several managers, including the likes of Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Di Matteo and Rafa Benitez.
We have a look at some of the defender’s best moments in a Chelsea shirt and some of the key events that made him into the captain that he became.
Premier League title 2004/05
Mourinho made Terry his captain for his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
The historic season was the making of Terry, where he won his first domestic trophy.
Terry was ever present and very quickly became a leader in the team, despite his tender age.
PFA Players' Player of the Year 2005
At the end of that season, Terry’s efforts were rewarded as he was voted the Player of the Year by his fellow professional.
It was the beginning of what has been a trophy-laden career, made up of both individual and team awards.
Goal vs Barcelona
One of the crucial moments of the 2004/05 season came at home against Barcelona.
The two legs were full of controversy and drama but one of the key moments came when Damien Duff whipped in a corner from the left and sent a header into the bottom corner.
Nobody mention what Ricardo Carvalho is doing to Victor Valdes on the line!
Domestic double in 2010
After being chased by Manchester City in the summer, Terry remained at Chelsea under Ancelotti and went on to win the domestic double.
It was another brilliant individual campaign from Terry, under a manager who valued him so highly.
Passing percentage in 2011
During 2011, there was a moment that the defender held the third best pass completion percentage in the world.
Only Barcelona’s Xavi (93%) and Swansea’s Leon Britton (93.3%) had higher than Terry.
Champions League final
Terry was forced to sit on the sidelines during the greatest night in the club’s history.
After seeing red against Barcelona in the semi-final, Terry was suspended for the game against Bayern Munich. Despite that, he still pinpoints the game as a key point in his career.
2014/15 Premier League title
Terry was ever present under Mourinho during the club’s title-winning season.
Despite Rafa Benitez claiming the defender was past his best just the season before, Terry was re-born under Mourinho and played every minute of every game.
