Chelsea player ratings: Everton (A)

Chelsea were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Everton, as they lost more ground on league leaders Manchester City.

In the first-half Chelsea dominated and should’ve found the back of the net, but twice Phil Jagielka cleared off the line in quick succession – first from Bakayoko and then from Willian. Jordan Pickford then made a great save from Pedro when he was played through by Bakayoko. Everton’s only real chance came from a slip by Andreas Christensen, that let Dominic Calvert Lewin bare down on goal but he was too indecisive and eventually, Chelsea won the ball back.

Sam Allardyce brought on Ashley Williams and Sandro Ramirez to add a more defensive steal and a stronger outlet should Everton break away. Chelsea continued to press on the front foot but once again saw their efforts cleared off the line or expertly saved by Pickford, whilst Michael Keane’s header late on could well have won it for the Toffee’s. Ashley Williams nearly turned Moses’s cross into his own net but Chelsea didn’t manage to find a breakthrough and could now sit five points behind second-placed Manchester United were the Red Devils to beat Leicester City.
