Having endured a difficult campaign this season, Chelsea are without Champions League football and have an FA Cup final with Manchester United left to try and salvage some dignity.

Several key players such as Eden Hazard, Pedro and Gary Cahill had disappointing seasons, failing to live up to the high standards they set themselves last year in comprehensively winning the Premier League title for the second time in three years.

New singings Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata came in for big fees in the summer but struggled for form and fitness as a lack of squad depth began to tell, especially after the turn of the year.

A poor run of results saw Chelsea’s top four hopes dwindle as they headed into the latter stages of the season, whilst a competent second leg performance saw Barcelona comfortably brush aside the Blues in the last 16 of the Champions League.
