Chelsea have reportedly contacted French side Nice, over a potential move for highly-rated midfielder Jean Michael Seri.
Get French Football have reported that The Blues have enquired about Seri’s availability, but they are not alone in the race to sign him.
The in-demand Ivorian international has been linked with several summer moves to Europe’s elite, and Chelsea could face competition from the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal for the 26-year-old’s signature. He has also previously been linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.
For Seri to be able to depart the Ligue 1 outfit, the player and Nice have agreed that he will be allowed to leave if a team bids the desired £40 million for his services.
Other reports have suggested that Seri’s potential arrival at Stamford Bridge could see fellow central midfielder Danny Drinkwater’s time in the capital come to an end.
Seri made 42 appearances for Nice last season, contributing with two goals.
