Sarri claims ‘unlucky’ Morata needs confidence to get goals
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has claimed he was happy with striker Álvaro Morata’s performance on Thursday, adding he just needs confidence to end his goal drought.
The 25-year old started against PAOK in the Blues’ opening Europa League group stage game, and was substituted with ten minutes remaining.
While the Spaniard continued his early season goalscoring drought, coach Sarri was impressed with his performance.
Talking about the player in his post-match press conference, as reported by Goal, Sarri said:
Álvaro has to gain confidence with one, two three goals. I am not able to give him confidence.
In this match he had three or four opportunities. He was unlucky. I hope for him in the future I can help him. But the confidence can come with goals.
Maybe two goals in two matches, I don’t know. For the first time in this season he was ready in the box. He was on the ball and was active.
