Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot believes the Blues needs more goal-scorers than just Eden Hazard.
Chelsea reignited their pursuit of the Premier League title after drawing with Liverpool last weekend, having only been denied the additional two points due to a late wonder strike from Daniel Sturridge.
With Manchester City and the Reds due to face off this weekend, the London club have the opportunity to go above one of their rivals if they can see off Southampton.
And while the club are performing well with Hazard currently going through a purple patch, retired full-back Melchiot believes the club cannot rely on the Belgian to score all the goals. As reported on the Premier League’s website, Melchiot said:
There are more people in the Liverpool team who can score goals. If you look at Chelsea, it’s almost only him [Hazard, who scores].
The only difference for them to come closer to the likes of Manchester City and trying to challenge them, and Liverpool, and anybody else in this League that is going after the title, is they need more than just Hazard to score goals.
