Chelsea are hopeful that they can convince midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek that both his short-term and long-term futures lies with the club, as reported by the Telegraph.

Loftus-Cheek, who has been weighing up his loan options ahead of the January window, started his first league game of the season against Wolves on Wednesday and was rewarded with his first league goal.

With his contract set to expire in 2021, Chelsea chiefs are aware that Loftus-Cheek will soon be forced to make a big call on his future, and they are hoping they can do enough to persuade him to commit to a future at Stamford Bridge.

Loftus-Cheek will likely wait to see how he is utilised over the busy festive period before making a decision over where he will spend the rest of the season and beyond.
