Chelsea on alert as Lyon give Nabil Fekir an ultimatum
Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir has been urged to make a decision about his future before the Ligue 1 winter break.
Fekir was close to joining Liverpool back in the summer, only for a knee problem to be detected during his medical.
Despite that setback, rumours linking him with Chelsea have not gone away, with a January move even mooted.
According to Le Progres, Fekir will meet with Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas imminently to discuss his next career move.
The French club are keen to tie the 25-year-old down to a new deal, with the risk of him leaving for a small amount next summer or for free in 2020 plain to see.
Speaking at Lyon’s AGM, Aulas confirmed talks with Fekir would take place before “the holidays”, with the winter break starting just before Christmas.
The France World Cup winner is a special talent, however, and it is unlikely he will be at Lyon beyond next summer.
A January exit feels unlikely, especially if Lyon reach the Champions League knockout stages, but Chelsea will monitor the situation closely.
