Chelsea target Icardi “far apart” in contract discussions with Inter
Chelsea target Mauro Icardi is reportedly still far apart from agreeing on a new deal with Inter Milan, according to his agent.
The player’s agent and wife Wanda Nara has revealed that the Argentinian striker is not close on agreeing on a new deal with Inter, with his current deal set to run out in 2021.
Speaking on TV show Tiki Taka, the player’s wife said, via Fox Sport Asia:
We are very far, or rather, we are not as close.
I have to sit down and talk and I have not done it yet, which has been written. It makes me laugh when I hear that Icardi has no market, I think Inter can pay for the renewal, the priority is to stay in the Nerazzurri, obviously.
Icardi had been linked with a move to Chelsea, with the Blues looking to strengthen their attacking options.
With Alvaro Morata misfiring, and Olivier Giroud only really used from the bench, Maurizio Sarri is looking for a goal scorer, and Icardi would fit the bill.
However, with the player’s agent revealing his priority is to stay in Milan, Chelsea may have to look elsewhere to secure a new frontman.
