Chelsea reject Barcelona deal for Willian

Chelsea have rejected Barcelona’s player-plus-catch proposal to sign Willian, according to the Telegraph.

The Catalan giants were prepared to swap Brazilian winger Malcom, who they bought from Bordeaux for £38million last summer, plus a cash amount to secure the Chelsea forward, who has frequently been linked with a move to the Nou Camp.

However, Chelsea have deemed their proposal not good enough, with the Blues valuing their 30-year old forward more than Barcelona’s offer which would have been worth around £50million, despite his age and with the Brazil international having just 18 months left on his contract.

Chelsea regard Willian as a key member of their squad and are looking to strengthen this window rather than let first-team regulars go.

Barcelona may still look to sell Malcom, who has failed to impress in Spain, even if Chelsea can’t agree to a future deal.
