Chelsea travel to Anfield to face title contenders Liverpool on Sunday afternoon looking to extend their recent unbeaten record against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Blues haven’t tasted defeat against Sunday’s opponents in their last five meetings in all competitions, and are unbeaten at Anfield since May 2012 in the league and cup respectively.
However, Maurizio Sarri’s side have a poor record this season away from home against the top six in the Premier League, losing their last five.
The Chelsea boss rested a number of key players for the Blues’ midweek Europa League quarter final first leg against Slavia Prague, while Liverpool were also in action in the Champions League.
Here’s how we think the Blues will lineup against Klopp’s side on Sunday, in what could be a defining game for both side’s respective campaigns.
GK - Kepa Arrizabalaga
Kepa is Sarri’s number one; he starts this weekend.
RB - Cesar Azpilicueta
Azpilicueta has improved after a tough start to the season.
CB - Antonio Rudiger
Rudiger has been one of Chelsea’s best players this season, and he’ll be well up for Sunday’s trip to Anfield.
CB - David Luiz
Luiz is another who will be up for the clash against Liverpool.
LB - Emerson
Emerson is Chelsea’s best option at left-back and he needs to start ahead of Marcos Alonso on Sunday.
CM - N'Golo Kante
One of the first names on the team sheet.
CM - Jorginho
The Italian has improved in recent weeks, but you can be sure Liverpool will look to press him at every opportunity. He’ll need a big performance on Sunday.
CM - Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Loftus-Cheek gets the nod over Ross Barkley for me, with the latter starting against Slavia Prague in midweek. We’ll need his power and presence in the midfield.
RW - Callum Hudson-Odoi
Sarri rested Hudson-Odoi in midweek so he will surely start.
LW - Eden Hazard
Chelsea’s main man delivered on Monday against West Ham, and we all know how much he loves a wonder goal against Liverpool. Another would be nice on Sunday.
ST - Gonzalo Higuain
This will be a big test for Higuain up against the physicality of Virgil van Dijk. He’s another who will need to be on his game.
